Goa CM Manohar Parrikar's Death News

RIP SHRI MANOHAR PARIKKAR

Goa CM and former Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer today. The President of India Ram Nath Kovind in a tweet informed of this demise.

President Kovind said,"Extremely sorry to hear of the passing of Shri Manohar Parrikar, CM of Goa, after an illness borne with fortitude and dignity. An epitome of integrity and dedication in public life, his service to the people of Goa and of India will not be forgotten."

Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman said,"Parrikar was an honest and sensitive political activist. As Raksha Mantri his contribution to making the armed forces modernised , lean and mean fighting machine will remain unparalled."

Congress President Rahul Gandhi called Parrikar one of "Goa's favourite sons". "I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Goa CM Shri Manohar Parrikar Ji, who bravely battled debilitating illness for over a year."
He tweeted,"Respected and admired across party lines,he was one of Goa's favourite sons. My condolances to his family in this time of grief."

Former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti said Parrikar was a "true fighter who despite battling cancer worked tirelessly for the welfare of his people with a sense of duty and dignity,"

A BRIEF STORY OF SHRI MANOHAR PARRIKAR

Manohar Parrikar was born on 13th December 1955 was an indian politician and leader of Bhartiya Janta Party who was the CM of Goa from 14th March 2017 till his death on 17th March 2019. Previously he was  CM of Goa from 2000 to 2005 and from 2012 to 2014.

As of March-June 2018 he was undergoing treatment for a Pancreatic cancer at a hospital in the United States. He returned to india  and in September he was admitted in the AIIMS Delhi for treatment. On 27 October 2018 the Goa government announced that CM Manohar Parikkar has pancreatic cancer.

He passed away on 17th March 2019 at the age of 63 due to advanced pancreatic cancer in Panaji. His death was announced by President Ram Nath Kovind.
